UPS Recognizes KCSR for Perfect Peak Season While Railroad Consolidates Labor & Human Resources

Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) announced this week that it has been recognized by the United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS) with an award for providing consistent, reliable service and achieving a perfect peak season for 2008. In the fourth quarter, KCSR ran trains for UPS without a service failure.

“Service performance of this caliber is only possible with the cooperation and commitment of the entire KCSR team,” said Scott Arvidson, KCSR executive vice president and chief operating officer. “This peak season performance demonstrates KCSR’s ability to provide consistent and reliable service across its network. On behalf of the entire KCSR team, I’d like to thank UPS for their business and this recognition.”

In other KCSR news this week, in an effort to improve efficiency, the railroad has consolidated its human resources and labor relations united into one department. The reorganized department will be under the leadership of Senior Vice President of Human Resources, John Derry. The elevation of Derry coincides with the retirement of the Labor Relations Vice President, Emerson Bouchard.

The railroad promoted Jim Albano from general director to assistant VP of labor relations. He will serve as the senior labor officer and report to Derry. KCSR also promoted Janet Robinson from HR manager to labor director and Jeanie Uhlrich, from HR staffing manager to labor manager. Kathy Alexander will continue to serve as a labor director.
